Byfchamp is a major dance championship for contemporary and urban styles, bringing together outstanding teams, solo dancers, and duos of all ages from cities across Russia. For the last seven editions of the event, I developed the complete visual identity.

Unfortunately, the next championship scheduled for November 2022 did not take place due to the Covid pandemic. The entire project and design concept remain only as images on my computer.

Usually, the judges have several photos to choose from, and I try to select those that match in lighting, color palette, angle, and so on. But in this case, I fell in love with one photo as soon as I imagined it combined with my concept, and I intentionally decided to use it despite all the technical challenges.
The organizers really liked the previous design, and since it was never implemented, we decided to recreate it for the spring contest.
I adjusted the color palette and added a few new elements so that it would look slightly different and avoid any confusion.

Design of a large-format banner for the photo zone.
The organizers added LED lighting on-site, and the final shots turned out even more stunning than I had imagined.

With the «BYFCHAMP» project, I had complete creative freedom. We only had the logo and the brand font – everything else was open to reinterpretation.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the same event repeated each time. It’s about growth and providing dancers with meaningful experiences. This is a space for exploring the art of movement and sharing talent. As the dance community evolves, «BYFCHAMP» evolves with it.
The name says it all – «Be Yourself Championship».

For each championship, I create around 200 personalized screen backgrounds for teams, solo dancers, and duets.
These screens help the judges avoid mistakes amid the large number of performances, while also making it easier for the audience to remember their favorite dancers.
The judges award the winners with certificates.

For the next championship, the organizers wanted to go with the trendy inflated 3D letter effect that was popular at the time. I think I managed to execute this concept quite elegantly while adding some non-stereotypical touches to keep it from feeling cliché.

Dance events usually fall into two categories: those that value atmosphere, and those that focus on competition. The first type gives kids and beginners a comfortable first stage, offers professionals a familiar, welcoming space, and creates an open, supportive audience. The second focuses on judging, scoring formats, and achieving results. «BYFCHAMP» emphasizes warmth and freedom, and I always aim to reflect that gentle, inviting vibe in my design.

Over the years working on this project, I’ve grown to love it as if it were my own, pouring every ounce of my passion into it. This was the last championship I designed, and those two emotions – love and fire – that shaped the design. «BYFCHAMP» is for everyone who dances with passion, and for anyone who finds a piece of their heart in movement.

Personally, I’m not a fan of mediocre banners with boring logos, and in my work, I insist that this format shouldn’t be underestimated. Many people want a «photo to remember», and to make that happen, the environment itself has to be visually striking.
